Game mechanics, UI guide, boosts, passes, and everything else explained
Be Fish is an idle fish collection game on Roblox. You control a fish in the fish tank. Eat food pellets and other fish to grow larger and collect fish in your net. The fish you have equipped determines your Growth, Speed, and XP multiplier stats. Higher-tier and rarer fish have dramatically better stats.
There are 60 unique species, each in 5 tiers, for 300 total collectibles. Tiers progress from Normal up to the incredibly rare Shadow: You only ever get normal-tier fish in your net — to get higher tiers, you need to craft them by collecting multiples of the same species. The progression is:
Every fish has two core stats displayed as a bar. The Fish Dex on this wiki converts those bars to a 1–100 numerical scale for easy comparison. Stats shown as ??? haven't been unlocked yet.
Every element you see during gameplay, explained:

| 💎 Gem Counter | Top center | Your current Gem balance. The only purpose of gems is to open Treasures before the timer — see Game Mechanics → Treasures for the full mechanics. |
| 🏆 Tank Leaderboard | Top right | Biggest fishes in the tank. |
| 📖 Fishdex | Top left | Opens your fish collection. Shows how many of the 300 you've discovered. |
| 🛒 Shop | Left | Buy Passes, Gems, and Treasure Chests. Red badge means new items are available. |
| 🍀 Luck | Bottom left | Your total Luck %. Increases your chances of catching rarer fish from all sources. |
| ⚡ XP Bar | Bottom center | Fills up as you eat food. Shows your current XP Multiplier value. |
| 🐟 Switch Fish | Bottom center | Opens fish selection. Only available while in the lobby. |
| 🏁 End Run | Bottom right | Ends your run, banks all fish collected in your net, and resets your fish size back to 1. |
| 🫧 Boosts | Bottom right | Opens the Boosts menu for temporary power-ups. |
| 🤖 Auto Farm | Right | Automatically moves and plays for you while AFK. |
| 🕸️ Net Counter | Right of XP bar | Number of fish you've collected on the current run. Only visible while in the tank. |
Boosts are temporary power-ups purchased with Robux. They last for a set duration, then expire. You can use more than one, but it only increases the time, not the bonus. Access them from the Boosts button at the bottom-right of the game screen. All boosts stack with passes and Fishdex bonuses.
Passes are permanent upgrades purchased with Robux. 1 time purchase that never expire and are always active — unlike boosts, which are temporary.
Gems are the premium currency in Be Fish, purchased with Robux. Their primary use is to instantly skip Treasure Chest unlock timers, giving you immediate access to the fish inside and permanently increasing Luck. Pricing varies per account, time periods, and geographic region.
