How growth, speed, luck, and loot actually work under the hood

๐Ÿ“

Growth

Every fish has a Growth Multiplier that scales how much size you gain from each food pellet or fish you eat. Higher rarity and higher tier both push this number up dramatically โ€” see the exact per-fish Growth stat for every species and tier on the Fish Dex rather than a duplicate table here. Different food types also carry different base size values, so a Growth Multiplier is a multiplier on top of whatever you're eating, not a flat amount.

๐Ÿ“ The size number displayed above your fish keeps climbing indefinitely โ€” there's no hidden ceiling on the stat itself. What does stop is the physical model: your fish's hitbox and visual size cap out at 335,580 size. Past that point the number above your head keeps growing forever, but your fish stops visibly getting any bigger in the tank.
โšก

XP & Loot Bar

Your XP Multiplier controls how fast the loot bar at the bottom of the screen fills up. The amount of food needed to fill the bar and collect a net is inversely proportional to your XP Multiplier โ€” double your multiplier and you need roughly half as much food to fill the same bar. Practically: a bigger multiplier means more nets, faster, for the same amount of eating.

๐ŸŽฃ The Double Loot pass doesn't change how fast the bar fills โ€” it changes what happens when it fills. Instead of 1 fish per completed bar, you get 2. See How to Play โ†’ Passes for the full purchasing details.
๐Ÿ’จ

Speed

Speed Multiplier also scales by rarity and tier โ€” check the Fish Dex for exact numbers per species. Faster fish survive longer (easier to dodge bigger predators) and catch food more reliably simply by reaching it first. Speed doesn't directly multiply your loot bar fill rate the way XP Multiplier does, but it improves your effective XP over time โ€” a faster fish intercepts more food per minute, which means more XP earned per minute even at the same XP Multiplier.

๐Ÿข

How Size Affects Speed

Swim speed decreases as your size number grows โ€” this is by design, but it's gentle. Even at 1 billion size, your fish still moves at roughly 54% of its starting speed. Your fish's individual Speed stat multiplies on top of this penalty rather than replacing it: a naturally fast fish (like Sailfish, with a Speed stat of 100) largely offsets the size penalty and still feels quick at huge sizes, while a naturally slow fish (like Goldfish, Speed 4.0) feels the penalty far more noticeably.

โš ๏ธ The visual model stops growing at 335,580 size (see Growth above), but the speed penalty is tied to the underlying size number, not the model โ€” so it keeps getting steeper long after your fish has visually maxed out.

Shop Upgrades (Game Passes)

A quick mechanical summary of what each pass actually does numerically. For pricing and purchase recommendations, see How to Play โ†’ Passes.

Double Loot
2 fish / fill
Loot bar drops 2 fish instead of 1 every time it fills. Doubles collection rate, no change to fill speed.
Fast XP
+50% XP
Permanent +50% XP Multiplier, stacking with your equipped fish's own XP stat.
Food Magnet
2ร— pickup radius
Doubles the range at which food is pulled toward your fish.
Double Growth
2ร— size gain
Doubles the size gained per food/fish eaten, stacking multiplicatively with your fish's Growth stat.
Lucky
+100% Luck
Permanent flat +100% added to your total Luck stat โ€” see Luck below.
๐Ÿซง

Shop Boosts (Consumable Buffs)

Boosts are temporary Growth / Speed / Luck / Super Luck / XP / Super XP buffs with fixed durations. For pricing, see How to Play โ†’ Boosts. The one mechanic worth understanding here: buying multiples of the same boost stacks their duration, not their bonus amount.

๐Ÿงช Example: activating 4 Super XP potions back-to-back gives you +250% XP for 2 hours โ€” it does not give you +1000% XP for 30 minutes. Plan boost usage around longer play sessions rather than stacking for a bigger spike. See it in action: โ–ถ Watch

Fishdex Collection Bonus

The Fishdex holds all 300 entries (60 species ร— 5 tiers). Every 10 unique entries you collect grants a permanent milestone reward:

Bonus Luck
+50% Luck
Permanent Luck increase, stacking with every other Luck source.
Growth Multiplier
+15% Growth
Permanent Growth bonus applied on every run.
Gems
1,200 gems
A gem reward at each milestone, useful for opening Treasures early.
๐Ÿ“– This is free, permanent progression โ€” expanding your collection doesn't just look good on the Fishdex, it directly compounds your Luck and Growth for every future run.
๐Ÿ€

Luck

Your total Luck stat is a sum of every source stacked together:

Total Luck = 100% base + Treasure bonus + Fishdex bonus + Group bonus (+50%) + Lucky pass (+100%) + active boosts
โš ๏ธ Important distinction: Luck affects rarity only โ€” your odds of a Common vs. Uncommon vs. Rare vs. Epic vs. Legendary vs. Mythic fish. It has no effect on tier (Normal โ†’ Golden โ†’ Rainbow โ†’ Glowing โ†’ Shadow), which is purely a function of crafting โ€” see Merging & Tiers below.

Luck & Drop Chances

Luck itself caps at 1,000,000%. Here's how the rarity odds shift as Luck climbs from the base value all the way to that cap:

Percentages are rounded to the available precision โ€” small rounding differences from an exact 100% total are expected, especially in the tiny tail values.
Legendary unlocks
1,667% Luck
Hard-locked rarity โ€” 0% chance below this threshold no matter how many rolls you make.
Mythic unlocks
50,000% Luck
The other hard-locked rarity. Nothing summons a Mythic fish below this Luck value.
Rarity caps
Uncommon 350% ยท Rare 2,500%
Epic caps at 30,000%, Legendary at 833,333%. Mythic never truly caps, but sits at just 0.20% even at the 1,000,000% Luck ceiling.
๐Ÿงฑ The grind wall: Rare caps at 2,500% Luck but Mythic doesn't even unlock until 50,000% โ€” a 47,500%-wide gap with almost nothing new happening in it. At roughly 1 Treasure chest per 4 hours, closing that gap the slow way takes on the order of 7 years of Luck accumulation (see How to Play โ†’ Gems for the chest math). This is the single biggest reason players buy Gems to skip chest timers rather than waiting them out.
๐Ÿ“Š

Luck Distribution Probability

At every Luck value, all six rarity chances always add up to exactly 100% โ€” Luck never changes how often you get a fish, only which rarity that fish turns out to be. Every percentage point gained by Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, or Mythic as Luck rises comes directly out of the Common pool, which starts at 89% at base Luck and shrinks continuously as Luck climbs (see the table above).

๐Ÿ’ก In practice this means higher Luck doesn't give you more fish overall โ€” it gives you the same number of fish with fewer of them being Common and more of them being something rarer.
๐ŸŽ

Treasures

Treasures are the primary way to permanently raise your Luck. Each one, when opened, gives 3 fish rolled with your current Luck stat plus a +100,000% Luck bonus applied just for that roll โ€” so Treasures reliably pull much better fish than a normal net.

Fish per Treasure
3 fish
Rolled at your current Luck + 100,000% for that roll only.
Held at once
Up to 5
A 6th Treasure can't be collected/purchased until one of the current 5 is opened.
Buy directly
1,000 gems
Purchasable in the Shop, subject to the 5-held cap above.
Unlock timer
4 hours
Free once the timer runs out, or pay Gems to open early.
๐Ÿ’Ž The Gem cost to open a Treasure early decreases the longer you wait โ€” e.g. roughly 3,600 gems with 4 hours left, down to about 3,585 gems with only 3h59m left. Queuing several Treasures and letting the timer run down before spending Gems stretches your Gem balance much further than instantly opening the moment you get one.
๐Ÿ”€

Merging & Tiers

Every 50 copies of a fish at its current tier merge into 1 copy at the next tier: Normal โ†’ Golden โ†’ Rainbow โ†’ Glowing โ†’ Shadow. Tier is completely separate from rarity โ€” it's pure crafting, unaffected by Luck (see Luck above).

Target tierNormal fish required (cumulative)
Golden50
Rainbow2,551
Glowing127,551
Shadow6,377,551
๐Ÿ’ก These are cumulative totals, including every tier along the way โ€” reaching Rainbow needs 2,551 Normal-tier equivalents total, Glowing needs 125,000 more on top of that (127,551 total), and Shadow needs a further 6,250,000 on top of that (6,377,551 total).

AFK Auto-Farm

Auto Farm automatically steers your fish toward the nearest visible food. When no food is in range, it may instead path toward the lobby teleporter โ€” and can occasionally get stuck against a wall on the way there.

How Auto Farm Behaves

  • Autos move in a bouncy zigzag pattern and always prioritize nearby food โ€” they never actively chase players.
  • An auto will not follow a player into an area without food, and will not persistently trail another auto-farming fish.
  • Autos can be redirected by nearby player movement. Moving toward one as if to eat it will cause it to divert, even if it is larger than you.
  • When multiple manual players are in the same tank, autos collide into each other more frequently, creating movement that can look like chasing. The actual manual player is the one whose path makes deliberate sense โ€” all autos will be reacting, while one fish is actively steering.
Stuck on a wall?
3 ways out
Toggle Auto Farm off and steer manually, rejoin the tank, or let yourself get eaten โ€” larger fish can sometimes wiggle free on their own.
Idle-kick dodge
~every 20 min
The game automatically rejoins on a roughly 20-minute cycle specifically to avoid Roblox's built-in AFK/idle kick.
๐Ÿ†

Leaderboards

The In-Tank leaderboard is sorted by your growth/size number, and shows rank, username, your currently-equipped fish (colored by its variety), and current size โ€” visible while you're actually playing.

Separately, the Rarest Fish, Most Kills, and Fish Collected boards are visible from the lobby and painted on the tank wall. All leaderboards only display the top 17 entries without scrolling โ€” on mobile, pull up on the board to reveal more.
